Commemorative Tree Program

Sponsor a tree at Hammonasset Beach State Park to memorialize or honor a loved one, or commemorate a special occasion. The Friends of Hammonasset have begun planting 300 new shade and ornamental trees at the Park. These trees are available for sponsorship. Choose a tree by type and location. A commemorative plaque, listing the names of donors and recipients, will be displayed at the Meigs Point Nature Center. Honoree certificates will also be provided.

How it works
FOH purchases the trees and Park personnel plant them. There are a variety of trees available for sponsorship. Trees will be numbered and a map showing tree location will be provided. A commemorative plaque listing the names of honored recipients will be displayed at the Meigs Point Nature Center. The trees will belong to the State, and thus, your donation is tax deductible.

Why participate?
The Park is in need of more trees in picnic areas, the campgrounds and around the Nature Center. Because of budget constraints, the Park does can not fund the purchase of the tree. Private participation is vital. Many visitors enjoy a connection to nature when they visit the Park. Sponsoring a tree for a loved one will offer a way to make that connection even stronger and also benefit the Park.

Levels of Sponsorship
$100.00 and $200.00 (dependent on the size and species of tree)
Note: Spring sponsorship rates may be slightly higher than fall rates

Species
Conifers include: Colorado Blue Spruce, White Pine, Douglas fir
Deciduous trees include: Pin Oak, Honey Locust, Mulberry
